A one-day summit of 17 Southern governors has begun in Lagos, according to government sources.

The meeting which is being held at the “Lagos House”, Ikeja, is behind closed-doors with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hosting.

The sources said the governors of APC, PDP and APGA are discussing some urgent national issues including the extradition of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and the July 1 midnight bloody raid and invasion of the lbadan home of activist Chief Sunday Igboho a.k.a Sunday Igboho by the DSS-led security forces.

Persecondnews had reported that the DSS confirmed that its men killed two people in Igboho’s house and allegedly recovered a cache of arms and juju.

No fewer than 13 people including a woman were whisked away to DSS headquarters in Abuja.

“The meeting is expected to articulate collective interests, position and restate commitment to a united Nigeria capable of guaranteeing equity, fairness and justice in true federalism,” a source said.

As at the time of filing this report, a roll call shows that 11 governors were already at the meeting while four states were represented by Deputy Governors.

They are Edo, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi.

In June, the Southern governors had met in Asaba, Delta State capital with 15 out of the 17 governors present.

One of the far-reaching decisions they took was the banning of open grazing in the South and calls for true federalism and restructuring of the country.

The Federal Government had rejected the positions of the southern governors and went ahead to direct the Minister of Justice, Malam Abubakar Malami to reclaim what it called grazing routes across the country.
