Felling of another high-profile Nigerian in Jos: Police say “some suspects” have been nabbed

Following the cutting down of another high-profile Nigerian and top security officer in Jos, Plateau State on Monday, the Police said it has apprehended some suspects in connection with the gruesome killing.

An Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Christopher Dega, who has retired from service, was until his assassination the Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Security.

Persecondnews recalls that Dega had served as Commissioner of Police in Edo and Borno States.

Dega, according to sources, was shot dead on Monday night at an “isolated restaurant” at Bukuru, Jos.

A statement said: “The Plateau State Police Command on a sad note received an ugly report of the death of AIG Christopher Dega (Rtd).

“On 31/05/2021 at about 2030hrs, AIG Christopher Dega (Rtd) was shot dead by three yet to be identified gunmen in an isolated restaurant at Bukuru, Jos.

“From the investigation so far, it appeared that he was trailed and shot.

“He arrived at Jos from Makurdi on the same date at about 19: 30hrs. Some suspects have been arrested.”

The statement signed by the police command’s spokesman, ASP Ubah Ogaba, said investigation into the incident is ongoing.
