For the second time in two months, another month-old baby girl was rescued by the Police in Lagos State and taken to an accredited shelter for custody and proper care.

The baby was abandoned at the junction of Odun-Ade Filling Station by Orile Bus Stop, Lagos, on Friday 14th May, 2021, at 8.00am.

Persecondnews reports that the baby was found by some passersby who alerted the Police at Orile Divisional headquarters, who handed over the baby to the Gender Unit of the State Police Command, Ikeja.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, directed that the baby should be brought to his office and was later taken to a hospital for medical attention.

Odumosu assured the public that the Command would continue to work with all relevant government agencies and interest groups in fighting all forms of inhuman acts and vices.

On March 15, 2021, a day-old baby was found by an unnamed person abandoned on Oladejo Street, Oko Oba in Agege area of the state.

The police boss urged women to come all out in condemnation of the act, describing it as callous.

He indicated his intention to discuss with the State Ministry of Youth and Social Development on the possibility of adopting the “beautiful looking baby girl” as soon as possible.
