Kastina State Government has confirmed the release of the more than 300 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, who were abducted December 11 by Boko Haram insurgents.

The school boys were kidnapped just as President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Daura, his country home for a week vacation.

Confirming the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Malam Ibrahim Kastina, said the students were freed on Thursday afternoon at Tsafe (82.5km via road) from Kankara town in the state where they were abducted.

Gov. Bello Masari had said the abducted students were taken to a forest in Zamfara State.
