Contrary to his earlier stand, President Muhammadu Buhari did not show up at the House of Representatives on Thursday.
Last week, Buhari had promised to appear before the House on the lawmakers request on the deteriorating security situation in the country with the recent slaughtering of more than 43 farmers in Borno State by Boko Haram.
The state governors had asked Buhari to shun the invitation during a meeting with him.
Persecondnews had reported that the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) also on Wednesday said the National Assembly lacked the powers to summon the President to speak on security matters.
He said security matters were the exclusive preserve of the Executive arm of government which cannot be discussed openly.
But two Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana and Chief Mike Ozekhome, have asked Buhari to honour the lawmakers invitation, saying anything short of it will precipitate a constitutional crisis.
