A new dimension was introduced in Lagos on Monday as #ENDSARS protesters attacked operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), injuring some of them.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at Ebute Meta while the poicemen were being moved to relieve their colleagues who had been on duty since Sunday.

Armed with sticks and bottles, the hoodlums in their hundreds blocked the RRS truck and hurled stones at them.

“They overpowered the two armed policemen escorting the truck, descended on the officers, and left them with varying degrees of injuries,” a source said

Those injured have been taken to the Police Clinic, Ikeja, and the General Hospital also in Ikeja for medical attention.

Persecondnews learnt that thugs also attacked RRS operatives at LASU on Monday morning, forcing their vehicle  to make a detour.

Condemning the attacks on the  policemen, Lagos Police spokesman, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that some of the protesters have exhibited violent traits and disdain for the police, asking them to desist from the needless provocation.

“Many policemen have been injured in Adekunle area of Yaba, many of those protesting are too aggressive and do not want to see the police around them.”

He implored the protesters to be more organised and have a structure through which they can easily communicate their grievances to avoid misrepresentation and anarchy.
