Communities ravaged by flood in Jigawa State have been assured of the Federal Government’s timely support from the Federal Government, President Muhammadu Buhari said on Friday.
To this end, Buhari has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant government agencies to urgently assess the situation in the affected areas with a view to providing the needed humanitarian supplies.
The President, however, commiserated with the families who lost loved ones, farmlands, means of livelihood, and property in the floods, according to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu,
He commended the prompt response of the Jigawa Government while pledging the government’s readiness to deploy the much-needed assistance.
The government will continue to follow very closely reports of flood situations across the country and ensure that relevant federal agencies are well prepared to respond to such disasters and mitigate associated risks, Buhari said.
