The body of the late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile was on Thursday interred at the Military Cemetery on Airport Road, Abuja amid tears by family members, sympathizers and the armed forces.
In attendance to pay her the last respect are the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and his wife, the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Air Force, Bala Ib’n Nalla and the family members.
Emotion rose as an ambulance belonging to the Nigerian Air Force with registration no. AF 442, brought in Arotile’s body, who hailed from Kogi.
PerSecondnews recalls that the Nigerian Air Force had last week announced the death of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot in a road accident at the NAF Base in Kaduna State.
She reportedly sustained head injuries from the accident when she was “inadvertently hit by the reversing vehicle of an excited former Air Force secondary school classmate while trying to greet her.”
The driver, an ex-classmate, Nehemiah Adejoh, who had no valid driver’s licence, has been handed over to the Police for prosecution.
