A child defiler, who ravished a 33-month-old baby and snuffed her out is to die by hanging, a Nigerian court has ruled.
A Kaduna State High Court sitting at Dogarawa Sabon Gari, Zaria, found the morbid rapist, Usman Shehu Bashir of Dogarawa area, guilty of the offences and sentenced him to death.

Justice Kabir Dabo said the rapist was convicted under Section 221 of the Penal Code, laws of Kaduna State 1999 (as amended).“The convict has confessionally confirmed the occurrence of the offence as well as his written statements also confirmed.

“By these two confessional statements, the court passed the judgement,” the judge ruled.

“On that fateful day, the convict took late Fatima to his room and for about 40 minutes, he raped her which led to her death….after the establishment of all the evidence of committing the crime,” he said.Dabo, however, gave the convict 90 days to appeal the judgment.

Bashir had committed the offences of rape and murder on March 23, 2015 and five years after he has punished for the crimes.

Reacting to the judgment, the State Counsel, Mr Jummai Dan Azimi, expresed satisfaction with the verdict, saying  the court has done justice to the case.
