COCAVID Fund rakes in N25.89 bn

The Nigeria Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (COCAVID) says it has raked in N25.89 billion as donations from individuals and institutions into the COVID-19 Fund.

 

Mr Isaac Okorafor, the Director, Corporate Communications at CBN, announced the total amount so far donated (N25.89 billion) as at April 17 on behalf of COCAVID in a statement in Abuja.

 

The latest donors include MTN Nigeria Plc — N1 billion, NDIC –N1 billion,  Multichoice Nigeria Ltd N200, 000, APM Terminal Apapa Ltd N150, 000 and Deeper Christian Life Ministry N50 million.

Per Second News recalls that the following had earlier made handsome donations : Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) – N2 billion, Dangote Industries Ltd – N2 billion, Flood Relief Fund – N1.5 billion, Tony Elumelu – N1billion, Mr Segun Agbaje – N1 billion, Oba Otudeko – N1 billion, Mr Femi Otedola – N1 billion, Chief Mike Adenuga – N1 billion among others.

 

Okorafor thanked the donors and urged other well-meaning Nigerians and people as well as institutions to contribute to the fund.

 

“We urge others to contribute to the national solidarity to provide not only medical equipment and materials but also to render urgently needed palliatives to the poor and vulnerable.

 

“We restate our commitment to full disclosure and accountability for all donations made,’’ he said.
