The prince of Wales has been infected by the coronavirus.

A spokesman for Clarence House, the official residence of Prince Charles, confirmed in a statement that the 71-year-old royal has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease.

Charles, Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son and heir to the British throne, has “been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health,” the spokesman said, adding that he has been in self-isolation in Scotland with his wife, the duchess of Cornwall, who has tested negative for the coronavirus.
