Emir of Kano removed

766

The embattled Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II and former Central Bank Governor, has been dethroned.

An announcement by the Kano State Government confirmed this development on Monday.

PerSecondnews recalls that the emir is currently being probed by the State House of Assembly for an alleged N2 billion land sale fraud.
The dethronement of the Emir followed a meeting of the State Executive Council presided over by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who has an estranged relationship with him.
Prominient Nigerians, governors and concerned citizens had waded into the matter but to no avail.

The Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors Forum and Ekiti Gov. Kayode Fayemi and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote are among known mediators in the political crisis.
