Housewife settles old scores throwing her rival with strapped baby headlong into death-well

An overwhelming festering grudge has pushed a jealous housewife to the fatal decision of throwing her rival in the house and her baby into a deep well in Kano State.

The older wife identified as Hauwa Lawal had dispatched rival Zuwaira Sani and her 18-month-old son into the “ deep death chamber’’at Rurum village in Rano Council Area of Kano State.

Zuwaira could not make it but her baby was rescued.

Following a misunderstanding between the duo which degenerated to physical assault, Hauwa pushed her with her baby strapped to her back headlong into the death well in their house.

Apparently, their polygamist-husband was unavailable at the time of the incident, but neighbours had helped to remove the deceased and her son  from the well.

They were rushed to a hospital where the woman was confirmed dead, but her son survived, a report said.

Commenting on the incident, the spokesman for the State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said the suspect, Hauwa, had been arrested.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for investigation, he said.
