President Buhari assents to 2020 Appropriation

President  Muhammadu Buhari has on his birthday signed the  2020 Appropriation Bill.

The National Assembly had passed the N10.59 trillion budget on December 5.

“It is my pleasant duty, today, on my 77th birthday, to sign the 2020 Appropriation Bill into law.

“I’m pleased that the National Assembly has expeditiously passed this Bill.
“Our Federal Budget is now restored to a January-December implementation cycle,” he said on his Twitter handle.
Present at the signing ceremony held at the State House were Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan,and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila.
Others are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, and the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed.

 

In his remarks, the President commended the patriotic zeal of the National Assembly for the quick passage of the budget.

He hinted that he may revert to the National Assembly with a request for a Virement or other relevant amendments following the increase of the budget from N10.33 trillion as proposed by the executive to N10.6 trillion (10,594,362,364,830).
