Embroiled in a life-threatening conflict with his wife over a domestic issue, a Ayobami Isiaka, snatched his 12 months old baby, Nana, from the mother and smashed up the innocent child on the concrete floor in their home.

The incident which occurred at Ijaye area of Isheri, a Lagos suburb, made a spectacle of Isiaka who had beaten the wife balck and blue over undisclosed issue.

As the madness rages on, Isiaka, seized the baby from her mother, smashed her on the floor with the head shattered, a source said.

Following the gruesome murder of the child, Isiaka’s brother reported the incident to the police.

It is not, however, if the paternity of the child was in dispute, but neighbours had gathered to lynch Isiaka but for the timely intervention of policemen from Isheri Division.

He was immediately arrested and taken to custody where he is being interrogated.

Confirming the gory incident, the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, said Isiaka was already in their custody for further interrogation.

“A disagreement occurred between Ayobami and his wife and the suspect forcefully took Nana from the mother and slammed her on the ground.

“The baby’s head whose was shattered, died on the spot,’’ he said, confirming that the incident happened in the evening of Oct. 26.

Elkana said the suspect would be charged with murder as soon as investigations were concluded.
