The widow of first republic Nigeria’s Prime Minister, Jummai Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, has passed on after returning from an Indian hospital.
Jummai died in Lagos in the early hours of Sunday where was recuperating after being treated of heart disease in India.
The late prime minister’s wife reportedly died of cardiac arrest, according to a grand daughter, Hajara Yakubu Wanka.
She was taken to India for the treatment of heart disease and was later discharged some days ago hale and hearty, she said.
“The deceased had stopped over in Lagos to rest before returning to Bauchi to continue her rehabilitation and recuperation.
“She passed away in the early hours of Sunday after she relapsed and went into a coma.
“Her corpse will be brought to Bauchi on Monday for burial. I cannot tell you her exact age at the moment but I will confirm that later,” Wanka said.
