Maina pleads innocence, remanded

Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, has been remanded in Abuja Correctional Centre (prison) on the orders of a Federal High Court in the FCT.

 

Justice Okon Abang gave the ruling on Friday following an application by the prosecution — — the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

 

Maina’s son, Faisal, is also arraigned on a similar charge.

 

The case was adjourned  untill October 30 for commencement of trial.

 

Maina was arraigned on a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud.

 

On Oct. 22, Justice Folasade Giwa-Ogunbanjo had ordered the temporary forfeiture of 23 property linked to Maina.

 

The  order followed an ex-parte motion filed by the EFCC.
