Worried by the worsening security situation in Nigeria, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday said that the country has never had it so bad.
Pastor Adeboye said this in respect to the five RCCG pastors that were kidnapped on Thursday, in Ogun.
The popular cleric described the spate of killings, abduction and general banditry across the nation as unprecedented.
The abducted pastors were traveling in a commercial vehicle with registration no. KW 230 XA, belonging to Abia Line Transport Company from the Southeast.
They were on their way to the church’s Ministers’ Conference at the Camp when they were ambushed by the gunmen, on Thursday evening at J4 Area of Ogbere on the Benin-Ijebu-Ode-Sagamu Expressway.
The names of the pastors were given by the police as Chidioze Eluwa, Chiemela Iroha, Okoro Ohowukwe, Ndubuizi Owuabueze and Ibeleji Chidinma (female).
The Police however announced on Saturday that the pastors, including a woman have been rescued.
One of the victims, Mrs Ibelegbo Chidimma, had been rescued earlier on Saturday before the others were freed.
“The remaining four victims have been rescued unhurt by men of Ogun State Police Command,” the spokesman DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi said.
