NBC suspends AIT’s license to operate – shut down station indefinitely

The NBC Thursday suspended the license of Daar Communications owners of AIT and Raypower for failure to abide by the commission’s directive the NBC Act Cap N11 laws of the federation of Nigeria and the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.

The shutdown order is until further notice, the NBC said in a document with this newspaper.

NBC alleged that aid has been used in a manner detrimental to national interest.

The NBC alleged that the broadcast of the station is patently partisan and one sided and deliberately inciting and heating the polity

The move opens a new front in what had so far been a struggle between the government and the media network, raising concerns about deteriorating press freedom in Nigeria.
