NNPC GMD Baru to speak at World Gas Conference in Washington

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, will join other global leaders to speak at the 27th World Gas Conference (WGC), taking place from 25th to 29thJune 2018 in Washington, United States.

As part of the key activities at the conference, Dr. Baru will speak on the “Role of Gas in Power Generation” where he is expected to highlight the various gas-to-power initiatives of the Federal Government as championed by the NNPC.

During the five-day global gas event, the NNPC boss is expected to market Nigeria’s tremendous gas potentials as a key driver in the nation’s socio-economic development, power generation as well as industrialization.

The World Gas Conference is the most important global gas industry gathering of influential leaders, policy-makers, buyers, sellers and experts. Conducted since 1931 by the International Gas Union (IGU), the triennial event aims to raise the voice of natural gas while offering timely updates on strategic, commercial and technical issues facing the entire gas value chain.

Keynote speakers include, U.S Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, Bob Dudley, Chairman BP, Dr Baru, NNPC GMD, Joe Kang, incoming president of International Gas Union, Yalan Lee, Head Beijing Gas Group and dozens of world industry leaders.

Speaking on the conference, President, Nigerian Gas Association, Dada Thomas, said with over 192tcf in gas reserves, Nigeria was well-positioned to ensure stable long-term infrastructure development and revenue generation.
