Trump’s decision on Jerusalem dangerous

US president Donald Trump Wednesday announced his decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Here are the latest updates on the controversial move:

US to immediately start process of moving embassy: Tillerson

“The State Department will immediately begin the process to implement this decision by starting the preparations to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” Tillerson said during a visit to Germany, shortly after Trump’s landmark announcement.

There’s no other country that has an embassy in Occupied Jerusalem.

All foreign embassies in the state of Israel are in Tel Aviv. But a few hours from now, President Donald Trump is about to change that.

The move will break with long-time US policy and potentially stirring unrest, not only in the Middle East but in the world.  Trump’s announcement is sparking fury across the Arab world.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas US President Donald Trump’s recognition of occupied Jerusalem as capital of Israeli will not change the status of Jerusalem as an Arab Islamic and Christian city.

“Trump’s decision means Washington’s withdrawal from the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, and we will call for an emergency meeting for the Central Palestinian Council,” the Palestinian President said.

The sharply divergent reactions highlight the fact that there is almost no other issue in the Middle East as contentious as the future of Jerusalem.
