The Federal Fire Service, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) have certified the use of F-500 Encapsulator Agent for effective and efficient firefighting in Nigeria.
The certification was sequel to the series of tests conducted on the product by various ministries, agencies and departments of government during which the product’s efficacy and environmental friendliness were confirmed.

F-500 EA is manufactured by Hazard Control Technologies (HCT) Incorporated in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America, which specialises in the manufacturing of Fire Suppression and Environmental Impact Protection Chemicals.
Already, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerian Navy, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the Ministry of Interior and private sector players like Dangote groups and some multi-national oil companies are reportedly partnering Okama Infinity Nigeria Limited, the sole distributor of the product in Nigeria, on its massive deployment in their facilities to combat any fire outbreak.

A certification letter by the Federal Fire Service reads; “This is to certify that F-500 Encapsulator (Agent) has been tested and found environmentally safe and compliant with the product specification. It is hereby registered for marketing in the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from 31st day of October, 2016.”

Speaking, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Okama Infinity Nigeria Limited, Engineer Oghenekaro Jockey, lamented the fire incidents in Calabar and Ibadan at the weekend, which claimed many lives and property, saying the stories would have been different if the F-500 EA had been deployed for putting out the fire, adding that the product had secured the buy-in of major stakeholders in the country.

According to Jockey, “We have had talks with almost every stakeholder in Nigeria as far as firefighting is concerned and I can assure you that by the time everyone knows about the power and effectiveness of F-500 Encapsulator Agent and begins to use it, the story of firefighting in the country will enter into a new phase.

“F-500 EA is a revolutionary innovation in firefighting. It is a fire suppressant agent that works effectively to knockdown fire in the shortest possible time, sometimes in a matter of seconds depending on the volume of fire. It is a product in a class by itself because it is currently the only fire suppressant agent that can encapsulate hydrocarbon vapours rendering them non-flammable and non-ignitable.

“Besides, it is the only agent that can be used on different classes of fire effectively. It has been tested, used and proven time and again to always deliver the best results.”

Commenting on the economy of the F-500 EA, Jockey said the product has a shelf life of 25 years, which “makes it the most cost-effective firefighting product in the Nigerian market.”
