The internal strife plaguing Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated dramatically on Monday when the faction led by Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike announced the expulsion of several key figures.

This move targeted Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), among others.

A source confirming the developments to Persecondnews revealed that the Wike faction also proceeded to dissolve the party’s executive committees in six states: Oyo, Bauchi, Ekiti, Zamfara, Edo, and Lagos.

This high-stakes maneuver coincided with a violent confrontation at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, where supporters loyal to Wike clashed physically with those backing the newly elected PDP Chairman, Taminu Turaki.

Turaki condemned the violence, stating, “The party is facing an assault that threatens its survival and the nation’s democracy. We have come under attack from security operatives who used force against members trying to access the headquarters.”

He added: “Some PDP members who attempted to attend the meeting were shot by the police, showing how far institutions have deteriorated.”

Suspended National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu justified the security presence, saying, “The security deployment is routine, done to ensure our Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee meetings are protected. We want to avoid any disruption.”

Anyanwu insisted: “I’m the National Secretary, and my office is still running until December 8. I’m doing my job.”
