Wizkid, Davido, Burna Not Narrow-Minded to Be Dragged Into Fan Wars – Olamide

1.1k

A simmering battle is raging across social media as fans loyal to Davido and Olamide clash bitterly following Olamide’s recent ranking of Wizkid as the biggest Afrobeats artiste in Nigeria after the late legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

The drama erupted shortly after a video surfaced from Olamide’s ongoing tour in Canada, where he confidently asserted that Wizkid holds the number-one spot among contemporary Afrobeats stars.

The statement, meant to be a harmless opinion, instantly sparked an online uproar, especially among Davido’s fan base who saw the comment as an attempt to downplay their favourite artiste’s global status, impact, and long-running dominance in the music industry.

Within minutes, timelines were flooded with arguments, comparisons, and an avalanche of heated takes.

While Wizkid FC celebrated Olamide’s remark as a “truth finally spoken,” Davido’s supporters accused the YBNL boss of bias and disrespect, insisting that Davido’s achievements, consistency, and influence place him above his closest rivals.

They also described Olamide’s comment as unnecessary and divisive.

Some fans even revisited old interviews and award timelines, attempting to “fact-check” Olamide’s claim with charts, streams, global recognitions, and fanbase strength.

The argument quickly spiraled into a full-blown identity war across TikTok, X, and Instagram.

But as the online cold war gained momentum, Olamide stepped in to calm the storm, urging fans to relax and stop dragging artistes into unnecessary rivalries manufactured by fanbases.

According to him, none of the three superstars—Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—would ever take offense at his remarks.

In a follow-up post, Olamide stressed that all three Afrobeats heavyweights have grown far beyond petty reactions and do not operate with the narrow-mindedness some fans attribute to them.

He noted that the music industry is big enough for everyone to shine without diminishing the brilliance of others.

“Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever,” Olamide said, urging fans to embrace a broader perspective.

“You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose—there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone.”

He added that the maturity and global exposure of Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid prevent them from getting offended by someone else’s personal opinion or artistic ranking, which is ultimately subjective.

According to him, this mindset is a major part of why they’ve all reached extraordinary heights in their careers.

Despite his attempt to douse the tension, reactions continue to pour in, with some fans insisting Olamide’s clarification came “too late,” while others applaud him for speaking boldly and still maintaining peace among the top three Afrobeats giants.

Many argue that fanbases, not artistes, fuel most celebrity rivalries.

Industry insiders have also begun weighing in, noting that the repeated comparisons between Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are becoming exhausting and counterproductive.

They emphasized that competition is natural but should never overshadow individual accomplishments.

As the debate rages on, one thing remains clear: the battle among fanbases is far from over, but the artistes at the center of the storm remain unfazed, focused, and secure in their respective legacies.

For now, Olamide’s comment has reopened a conversation Nigerians may never agree on—but one that continues to define the cultural pulse of Afrobeats.
