Ex-Anambra Gov. Obiano Alive and in Good Health, Aides Confirm

399

Former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano is alive and well in Houston, United States, according to his former Commissioner for Information, Mr. C-Don Adinuba.

Adinuba strongly refuted the social media rumors claiming Obiano, who governed Anambra from 2014 to 2022, had died in London.

He dismissed these reports as “provocative” and “unfounded,” assuring the public the former governor is well and residing with his family.

He said: “I have been asked some probing questions by journalists and have heard a provocative rumour about the death of former Governor Willie Obiano.

“The rumour is not true. I just spoke with the former governor and members of his family a few minutes ago. He is hale and hearty in Houston, United States, where he resides.

“Contrary to the reports, Obiano is not in London and has not been hospitalised. He is strong, hale, and hearty, and bouncing in the US. Ignore the rumour—it is not from a credible source. Please, the report is fake; Obiano is still alive.”

Also, Obiano’s personal publicist, Tony Nezianya in a WhatsApp message to Persecondnews on Friday evening wrote:”It’s an executive mischievous rumour.”

On his part, Dr. Paul Nwosu in a statement confirmed that Obiano is “hale and hearty,” reaffirming that, “by the special grace of God, his health remains in excellent condition.”

He stated: “It is regrettable that, in a desperate bid to generate social media content, some individuals resort to spreading falsehoods and engaging in the unthinkable.

“Such acts of mischief are unacceptable and will not go unpunished. The general public is hereby urged to completely disregard the misleading Facebook post in circulation.”

Persecondnews recalls that Obiano served as governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, and he is succeeded by the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, in March 2022.

He hails from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area and was born on August 8, 1955.

Obiano is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N4 billion fraud.
