Sen Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP Kogi Central) has clarified that inviting Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers to commission projects in Kogi aligns with proper legislative protocol.

The senator extended the invitation to Akpabio and her colleagues on Thursday, October 30.

The project commissioning in her constituency, scheduled for Sunday, November 2, will mark her second year in office and comes just a month after her reinstatement following a suspension.

Persecondnews had reported that her suspension was lifted following a Senate leadership meeting on September 22, 2025, where it was decided that she would be allowed to return to the chamber when the Senate resumed on October 7.

Akpoti-Uduaghan stated she adhered to parliamentary procedure by submitting the invitation through the presiding officer and requesting the letter be officially read on the Senate floor.

“Today, as is customary for announcements of such nature, I wrote a letter to the Senate through the presiding officer to the Senate President to read on the floor,” she said in a statement.

“I put out the invitation so it would not seem like I was celebrating in isolation. I am a progressive person. Even with ongoing court cases, I continue to carry out my duties in the chamber and follow proper procedures.”

According to the senator, her actions underscore a deep respect for institutional norms and adherence to due process.

She emphasized that celebrating her achievements and inaugurating projects was intended to highlight public service, not to draw attention to herself.
