The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has initiated a thorough technical and commercial review of its three major refineries in Warri, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna.

This strategic move aims to assess the refineries’ performance and determine the best approach to ensure optimal operation and sustainability.

According to NNPC, the review will inform key decisions on technology upgrades, operational models, and commercial frameworks.

In a post on its official X handle on Wednesday, the NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency and efficiency.

“We are filled with determination! We are looking ahead with optimism to ensure our refineries operate effectively. We are dedicating significant time to a detailed review and are eager to implement our insights.”

Ojulari noted the company’s motivation, stating that its commitment to national prosperity above personal interests drives its efforts to create sustainable solutions for the refineries.

Persecondnews reports that the review will involve engaging advanced technical equity partners with a proven track record of operating refineries of international standards.

NNPC will also finalize all necessary agreements to enable mobilization for high-grade implementation or repairs as required.

This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance energy security, optimize its assets, and ensure compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) requirements.

The NNPC’s review and upgrade of its refineries are crucial to addressing Nigeria’s energy needs and reducing dependence on imported refined petroleum products.

With the review expected to be completed before the end of the year, the NNPC is poised to take a significant step towards achieving its goal of energy security and self-sufficiency.
