A coordinated effort between security operatives and community vigilantes has thwarted an attempt to vandalize key power transmission infrastructure along the Mando-Jos 330kV Double Circuit line, announced by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)

According to TCN, the suspects and their alleged buyers were arrested on Sunday, October 5, after they were caught dismantling parts of towers T297, T298, and T299, an act that could have endangered the structural stability of the line.

Fortunately, the transmission line remained intact and did not collapse, it said.

Engineers from TCN have since commenced emergency reinforcement work on the affected towers to restore full stability and ensure uninterrupted bulk power delivery across the Mando–Jos transmission corridor.

TCN commended the vigilance of local communities and the swift response of security operatives, noting that the suspects are currently in police custody in Saminaka, Kaduna State, where investigations are ongoing.

The company urged communities nationwide to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities near power infrastructure.

It reinforced its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s transmission network and ensuring a stable power supply across the country.
