A prominent chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Samsideen Oladiti (popularly known as Shamelon), was arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday for murder.

Oladiti, 55, faces charges related to the alleged murder of a dispatch rider.

According to a statement from the Lagos Command Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, the union chieftain allegedly beat the victim to death on Lagos Island.

The prosecution claims Oladiti used a crash helmet and his fists to inflict the severe, ultimately fatal, injuries on the rider.

Police records also indicate that Oladiti was previously linked to a separate complaint that arose on August 28, 2025.
