A resident of Abeokuta, Ogun capital city, Nosiru Rasheed, has sued Trust Plus Pharmaceutical Stores for ₦51 million in damages, alleging a pharmacist’s negligence nearly cost him his life.
According to court documents obtained by Persecondnews, Rasheed went to the pharmacy on January 5, 2025, seeking Andrew Liver Salt for stomach pains.
The pharmacist on duty, however, sold him Epsom Salt, insisting it had the “same potency.”
Trusting this professional advice, Rasheed took the medication but began feeling severe discomfort and shortness of breath two hours later.
He was rushed to two separate hospitals in Abeokuta where doctors confirmed the Epsom Salt was unsuitable and dangerous for his condition.
One doctor reportedly told Rasheed that Epsom Salt is primarily for external use and that the delay in seeking medical help could have been fatal.
In his lawsuit, Rasheed is seeking a total of ₦51 million – ₦1 million to cover his hospital bills and ₦50 million for general damages and emotional trauma.
He is also asking the court to declare that the pharmacy’s actions were negligent and unprofessional.
