Distraught over the disappearance of his wife from home, 50-year-old Modu Isa has attempted to take his own life at Bama community of Borno State.

Persecondnews gathered that his three-time divorced wife had failed to return home several days after she left with her whereabouts unknown.

Consumed by distress, Isa stabbed himself three times in the stomach and cut off his penis.

He was, however, rescued and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency xpert and security analyst, announced this tragic incident in a post on his X handle on Saturday.

Makama disclosed that the incident, which occurred on Friday evening at Hausari Ward, was reported by community members who came to his rescue.

Witnesses said Isa stabbed himself three times in the stomach before cutting off his penis with a kitchen knife.

“He carried out the self-harm because his former wife, Bayanxe Modu of Konduga, whom he had divorced three times, refused to return to his house.

“Police led a patrol team to the scene, recovered the knife as an exhibit, and evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Bama, where he is responding to treatment,” a witness said.

The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Maiduguri, the state capital.
