A fire broke out on Friday night at the headquarters of Fresh FM in the country located in Challenge area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
In a statement signed by Samson Akindele, the Group Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, the company confirmed that the fire extensively damaged key facilities.
These included the studios for Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, as well as the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and other broadcasting equipment.
Initial attempts by staff to put out the blaze with in-house equipment were unsuccessful before professional firefighters arrived on the scene.
According to Akindele, the cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage have not yet been determined.
“We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the devastating inferno, the cause of which is also yet to be ascertained presently,” the statement noted.
In a separate confirmation, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services, Morouf Akinwande, stated that firefighters were quickly dispatched and successfully extinguished the fire.
He added that more details would be released after a complete assessment.
Fresh FM’s management expressed their gratitude to the public and officials from the Oyo State Fire Service for their prompt response in helping to contain the situation.
