The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum over the refund of workers’ funds allegedly diverted from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

NLC is also demanded the constituting of the Governing Board of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).

The NLC’s ultimatum, announced in a communiqué following a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, warns that failure to comply will result in a nationwide industrial strike.

The meeting, presided over by NLC President, Joe Ajaero, deliberated extensively on issues affecting Nigerian workers, the trade union movement, and the nation at large.

The alleged diversion of workers’ funds from NSITF has sparked outrage, and the NLC is demanding immediate action to rectify the situation.

The NLC believes that the absence of a fully constituted board has hindered the effective management of pension funds and has called on the Federal Government to take urgent action to address the situation.
