FAAN Investigates K1 De Ultimate for Alleged Alcohol Consumption, Assault at Boarding

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that renowned Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, was found with alcohol in his flask while attempting to board a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday.

In an official statement issued by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the incident occurred during the boarding process of ValueJet Flight VK 201 bound for Lagos.

According to FAAN, K1 attempted to board the aircraft with an unidentified liquid substance, later confirmed to be alcohol, despite repeated warnings from both Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers and the flight captain.

“The passenger was informed of this regulation but reportedly declined to comply,” the statement said.

The situation escalated when K1 reportedly refused to step aside for security checks and poured the liquid on a security officer.

As boarding concluded and the captain gave clearance for takeoff, the musician allegedly moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to vacate the area.

Shocking footage and eyewitness accounts indicate that K1 was nearly struck by the aircraft wing as it began taxiing.

Both he and airport ground staff had to duck to avoid what could have been a catastrophic accident.

FAAN said the musician was escorted away by the AVSEC crime unit for further investigation and was later released.

“The Authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved,” Orah warned.

FAAN noted that the incident violated Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17, which restrict passengers from carrying liquids exceeding 100ml, except when medically necessary and properly declared.

The matter, according to FAAN, remains under thorough investigation, and all parties found culpable will be held accountable in line with aviation safety laws.
