US Issues Lifetime Ban, Deportation Warning for Visa Overstayers

1.1k

The United States government has issued a stern warning to foreign nationals who overstay their visa validity, cautioning that such actions could lead to deportation and a permanent ban from re-entering the country.

US immigration authorities said in a statement made available to Persecondnews on Monday: “If you remain in the United States beyond your authorised period of stay, you could be deported, and could face a permanent ban on traveling to the United States.”

Persecondnews reports that individuals who remain in the US unlawfully for over 180 days face severe penalties, including a three-year ban if they accrue unlawful presence for more than 180 days but less than one year, a ten-year ban if they accrue unlawful presence for one year or more.

The US Department of Homeland Security has reported that visa overstays represent a significant portion of immigration violations annually.

As a result, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services has implemented tighter enforcement measures and renewed public awareness campaigns to educate foreign nationals about the importance of complying with visa regulations.

For Nigerians seeking to relocate or study in the US, the warning serves as a reminder to comply strictly with immigration terms.

With global scrutiny on migration growing fiercer, it is essential for individuals to adhere to visa regulations to avoid severe consequences.

The US government’s warning emphasizes the need for foreign nationals to prioritize visa compliance and avoid overstaying their visas.

The US government has also introduced new rules requiring foreign nationals to register with the federal government if they stay in the country for more than 30 days, warning that failure to comply may result in fines, imprisonment, or deportation.
