The coast appears clear for the suspended Rivers Gov. Siminalaye Fubara to return to office soon as President Bola Tinubu reportedly met with the principal actors in the state’s political crisis.

Impeccable source and pictorial evidence confirmed that President Tinubu met with Fubara, his estranged godfather, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, state lawmakers and others in Abuja on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa.

Details of the closed-door meeting are still sketchy but it was believed that the president had successfully reconciled the parties.

Persecondnews recalls that Fubara, the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and the lawmakers were suspended by President Tinubu on March 18 when he declared a state of emergency in the state following a political impasse.

Fubara had visited Wike at his Abuja residence to mend fences with him in company of the Chairman of Southern Governors Forum and Ogun Gov. Dapo Abiodun, and ex-Ogun Gov. Olusegun Osoba.

Also during Sallah celebration in June, Fubara paid Tinubu visit at his Ikoyi residence to pave the way for his return to office.

On March 18, 2025, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retired) was appointed the administrator of Rivers State by President Tinubu and sworn in on March 19, 2025 for six months in the first instance to oversee governance and restore order.
