President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent bloodletting in Benue State, directing security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of the evil acts, and prosecute them.
“Enough is enough!” the President said in an X post on his official handle on Sunday, urging political and community leaders in Benue State to act responsibly and avoid inflammatory utterances that could further increase tensions and killings.Tinubu noted the need for dialogue and reconciliation, encouraging Governor Hyacinth Alia to lead the process of bringing peace to Benue.

“Our people must live in peace, and it is possible when leaders across the divides work together in harmony and differences are identified and addressed with fairness, openness, and justice,” he said.

The President extended his sympathy to the people of Benue State and admonished the governor to pursue dialogue and reconciliation as a long-term strategy towards solving the issues of insecurity in the state.

Persecondnews reports that several heads of intelligence agencies have landed in Benue State to work with Governor Alia in a bid to bring a lasting solution to the issues of insecurity in the state.

The governor has outlined measures being taken by his administration to ensure the safety of all residents and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the security challenges.

Meanwhile, Pope Leo has offered prayers for the victims of the devastating massacre in Benue State.

The Pope described the violence as “particularly devastating,” noting that most of the victims were internally displaced persons sheltered by a local Catholic mission in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area.

The Pope’s prayers come as angry youths in Benue State took to the streets to protest the alleged killing of scores of residents by suspected herdsmen in Yelwata.

“We are angry at the deafening silence of President Bola Tinubu and the governor of Benue State despite the killing of children, women, and the elderly,” said Solomon Amande, one of the protesters.

The protesters resisted an attempt by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Sam Ode, to address them, insisting that Governor Alia should come personally to address their concerns.
