IJA Secures Gateway Games Men’s Football Bronze, Defeating Kaduna 2-0

The Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) team has secured the bronze medal in the men’s football category at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, defeating Team Kaduna 2-0 in the third-place playoff.

A Persecondnews reporter covering the games reported that the bronze medal match took place on a sunny Tuesday morning at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, one of the tournament centers.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke scored one of the goals, while the other was an own goal, securing the win.
The IJA team, also known as the Golden Eaglets, bounced back from their semi-final loss to Team Ogun to claim the bronze medal.
Team Ogun had defeated the Golden Eaglets 2-1 in the second semi-final and will now face Kwara in the final.
The final match is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, where Kwara will face host state Ogun.

The IJA team’s bronze medal win is a testament to their skills and determination, and a promising start to their participation in the sports festival.
