The FCT Police Command says it has taken proactive measures to ensure a safe Easter celebration in the nation’s capital with the deployment of combat-ready personnel and state-of-the-art equipment to churches and recreational centres.

The deployment is part of proactive efforts to enhance conventional policing and ensure the safety of worshippers and fun-seekers during the holiday.

In a statement sent to Persecondnews on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the measures include visibility policing, strategic positioning of intelligence assets, vehicular and foot patrols, and monitoring operations designed to swiftly detect and deter criminal activity.

The statement reads: “Additionally, the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams will be conducting sweeps of parks and other major recreational gathering points to forestall any security threats or breach.

“Commissioner of Police Ajao Adewale extends Easter greetings to Christians in the Federal Capital Territory, encouraging them to promote peace and unity during this period of reflection and prayer.

“He reassures the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all residents of the FCT before, during, and after the celebrations.

“He also appealed for maximum cooperation with the Police and other security agencies, while urging residents to remain vigilant and law abiding.
