Abuja 2025: Zamalek Wins African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship, Third Time in a Row

In an electrifying final, Zamalek have emerged victorious at the just concluded African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The Egyptian powerhouse defeated Al-Ahly 3-1, claiming the title for the third consecutive time.

The sets were closely contested, with Zamalek winning 29-27, 22-25, 25-20, and 25-22.

Persecondnews recalls that Zamalek’s journey to the final was not without its challenges.

In the semifinals, they edged out Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) 3-2, winning the sets 25-23, 28-26, 19-25, 24-26, and 15-12.

The match was intense, with the Kenyan team energized by the enthusiastic support of the crowd in the stands.

Zamalek’s captain, Noura Azmy, had told Persecondnews correspondent covering the event that she had confidence in her team’s ability to win the title for the third time.

“We are ready to go into the final. We have what it takes to defeat Al-Ahly,” Azmy said.

She acknowledged that the match against KPC was tough, with her team dropping two sets due to lack of concentration and tiredness.

Zamalek’s women’s volleyball team has a rich history, having won their first continental title and appearing at a strong and honorable level for women’s sports in the club.

The team has dominated individual titles in the tournament and has become the first Egyptian team to secure a spot at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.

The final match against Al-Ahly was a closely contested one, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination.

However, Zamalek’s experience and teamwork ultimately paid off, as they emerged victorious in the end.
