The newly appointed Police Commissioner for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Mr. Saka Adewale Ajao, has officially taken office, vowing to bolster security through intelligent and proactive policing strategies.

Persecondnews reports that Ajao, who is the 33rd CP of the command, takes over from the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General, Tunji Disu, who has been redeployed to head the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.

Before becoming FCT CP, Ajao had served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Zonal CID, Zone 2, Lagos.

His posting to Abuja Command was announced in a statement issued on Friday, March 21, by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, Adewale praised his predecessor’s leadership and pledged to build on his accomplishments.

He said: “On behalf of the officers and men of this command, I appreciate the quality leadership that the immediate past CP exhibited while he was here.

“I want to assure you that we will fit well into the shoes. When you’re in your office, you will receive good news about us.”

The new police chief vowed to provide exceptional leadership to his officers, while also reassuring Abuja residents that they can expect a more responsive and efficient policing approach.

He said: “For the men, I promise them quality leadership. For the residents of Abuja, I assure you of quality service delivery, impactful policing, and intelligence-driven and proactive policing under my watch. That I can assure you.

“With God on our side, we will move from height to greater height.”

In his farewell address, Disu urged officers and men of the command to provide the same level of support and cooperation to the incoming Commissioner.

“We have spoken with the members of the management team, and they have given us their word to give the new Commissioner of Police all the cooperation.

“Most importantly, we thank you for all the wonderful work you have done for the command. I beg you to give the same cooperation to the new CP,” Persecondnews quotes Disu as saying.
