Nigeria has secured the hosting rights for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), becoming the second African country to host this prestigious event.

The WPRF is the flagship event of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, which boasts membership from 126 countries worldwide.

This milestone solidifies Nigeria’s position as a key player in the global public relations landscape.

The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, announced this while briefing the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Idris Mohammed, in his office on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the hosting right will place the country on a global map before, during and after the Forum as well as presents opportunity to promote the country’s image in the comity of nations.

Responding, the Minister described it as a big win for the country, saying that this offers a great platform for Nigeria to showcase its rich cultural heritage, talents, innovative strides and developmental reform initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the world.

“At a time Nigeria is trying to market itself, at a time reforms are happening and at a time that the President is ensuring that Nigeria returns to its rightful place in the comity of nations, the gains for hosting the WPRF cannot be overemphasized,” a statement by Stanley Ogadigo, the Director, Public Relations, said.

In his congratulatory letter dated 5th March, 2025, President, Global Alliance, Prof. Justin Green, expressed confidence that NIPR will organize an outstanding and impactful event that will foster knowledge-sharing, professional collaboration, and meaningful dialogue on the future of PR and communication worldwide.

“This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to NIPR’s commitment to excellence in public relations and communication on a global scale.

“Securing the privilege to host such a prestigious event underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in the global PR landscape and reflects the dedication, professionalism, and leadership of NIPR in advancing public relations practices across Africa and beyond,” Green said.

WPRF was first hosted in the continent of Africa in 2007, by South Africa.

Nigeria during the 2024 edition of the event held in Indonesia, demonstrated professionalism and excellence which also showed that the country has the required professional competence and capability to host.
