Following the Supreme Court judgment, the Rivers State House of Assembly has given Gov. Sim Fubara a 48-hour deadline to present the 2025 budget to the lawmakers.

This ultimatum was issued during a plenary session in Port Harcourt on Monday, amidst a heavy security presence at the Assembly Quarters.

The lawmakers’ decision followed the apex court’s judgment on Friday, February 28, ordering Fubara to present the budget to the Assembly including the pro-Wike lawmakers, asserting that he has been spending public funds “illegally.”

Persecondnews recalls that the governor had on December 30, 2024 submitted the 2025 budget statement to the four lawmakers who had not detected to PDP.

The budget proposal, tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,” outlined the state’s revenue projections and expenditure plans for the 2025 fiscal year.

Details of the budget proposal showed that the state expects a total revenue of N1.188 trillion, with N462.254 billion allocated for recurrent expenditure and N678.088 billion for capital expenditure.

The budget also prioritized sectors such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
