NNPC Ltd laments loss of lives in Niger State petrol tanker explosion, offers condolences

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has extended its heartfelt condolences to the victims of the tragic petrol tanker explosion that occurred at Dikko-Maje Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Road in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

The devastating incident claimed the lives of several individuals who were attempting to scoop fuel from a fallen tanker, while many others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

During a condolence visit to the General Hospital in Sabon Wuse, Niger State, NNPC Ltd’s Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the families of the victims,” said Abdullahi.

He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and wished the injured a swift and full recovery.

Abdullahi also urged the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid approaching fallen petrol tankers to prevent such heartbreaking tragedies in future.

“We must all be aware of the dangers associated with fuel-related accidents and take necessary precautions to prevent them.”

NNPC Ltd said it remained committed to the safety and well-being of all Nigerians and will continue to advocate for greater awareness of the dangers associated with fuel-related accidents.

Tha national oil company said it will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.

Persecondnews recalls that a devastating petrol tanker explosion occurred in Niger State, resulting in the deaths of some people.

The tragedy occurred when a tanker exploded at Dikko-Maje Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Road in Suleja Local Government Area.

According to the Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Mr. Abdullahi Inga, three of the victims died from severe burns, with one succumbing to injuries while being transferred to Kano for further treatment.

The two others died in the hospital while receiving treatment.

All 14 victims were from Kano, and the injured persons were transferred to Kano based on their requests.

NSEMA said it has concluded its assessment of the incident and will submit its report to the governor for further action.
