Nigerian music sensation Tiwa Savage, popularly known as the “African Bad Gyal,” has shared an intriguing perspective on her approach to relationships.

Speaking during her appearance on the Receipts Podcast on Spotify, the award-winning singer disclosed that cheating has never been a deal breaker for her.

“I’ve been cheated on before. I found out and forgave every time,” Tiwa revealed candidly.

“Every man I have ever been with has cheated, and I have never left them because of it. I have left for other reasons, but not because they cheated. Cheating is not my hill.”

The songstress explained that while she has chosen to forgive infidelity, it is the accompanying dishonesty and disrespect that she struggles to accept.

“What hurts is the lies about it. Maybe other people had known, and I felt stupid about it, or if it’s close to home. The disrespect of it is why I could leave,” Tiwa said, emphasizing that betrayal in other forms holds greater weight for her than the act of cheating itself.

In her revealing discussion, Tiwa noted that there are other issues in relationships that have pushed her to walk away.

“I’ve left for so many other reasons like drug abuse, emotional abuse, being ghosted, stealing, and financial things. But that cheating thing, nah,” she added, offering a glimpse into the challenges she has faced.

Touching on the broader context of infidelity, Tiwa suggested that the behaviour has historical roots, pointing out that it has long been embedded in societal norms.

“I know you say it’s bad that we’ve gotten to a point where cheating isn’t a deal-breaker. But I feel like we’ve always been here—even back in the day, even going back to the Bible and history,” she reflected.
