Rude Awakening for Amorim as Nottingham Forest Stun United at Old Trafford with 3-2 Victory

"The defeat marks United's second successive Premier League loss, leaving them with 19 points from 15 games, their lowest tally at this stage of the season since 1986-87"

Nottingham Forest secured a stunning 3-2 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, marking their first victory at the stadium in almost 30 years.

The visitors capitalized on United’s defensive blunders, with Rasmus Hojlund equalizing Nikola Milenkovic’s early opener.

However, Forest regained the lead with two goals in seven minutes at the start of the second half.

Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, was at fault for Forest’s second goal, misjudging Morgan Gibbs-White’s shot from the edge of the area.

The hosts’ defensive woes continued as Onana and Matthijs de Ligt failed to deal with Chris Wood’s looping far-post header, allowing Forest to take a 3-1 lead.

Bruno Fernandes reduced the arrears for United, but despite making five changes, the hosts were unable to force an equalizer.

The defeat marks United’s second successive Premier League loss, leaving them with 19 points from 15 games, their lowest tally at this stage of the season since 1986-87.

Forest, on the other hand, moved up to fifth place in the league table.

Chris Wood’s header also made him Forest’s record Premier League scorer, overtaking Bryan Roy with 25 goals in the competition.
