Bukola Olopade had assumed office as the Director General of the resuscitated National Sports Commission (NSC) at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement by the NSC Communications Department on Thursday given to Persecondnews in Abuja, the assumption of office marks the beginning of a new era in Nigerian sports development.
Olopade, a former Ogun State Sports Commissioner, had his first day in office on Wednesday morning, which was filled with meaningful meetings with NSC Chairman Alhaji Shehu Dikko, directors, and staff.
The meetings allowed him to engage in pivotal discussions on key sports-related matters and outline his vision for the commission’s future.
The Director General expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Dikko, emphasizing the importance of their partnership in achieving the commission’s goals.
Olopade brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
His track record of innovative strategies and passionate advocacy has been instrumental in the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.
Olopade’s appointment as the Local Organizing Committee’s (LOC) Chairman of the upcoming 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged the Gateway Games Ogun 2024, is a testament to his dedication and vision.
He reiterated his commitment to dialogue, teamwork, and setting a strong foundation for sports development in Nigeria.
This pledge has been welcomed by stakeholders, including Ogun Gov. Dapo Abiodun, who congratulated Olopade on his appointment.
