#FearlessInOctober: Security agents take over Eagles Square in Abuja

1.7k

Security operatives sealed off Eagle Square in Abuja on Tuesday, erecting multiple barricades on adjoining roads preventing access to the area by commuters and journalists.

The heavy security presence caused difficulties for those attempting to go into the area, sparking concerns over the essence of the protests or gatherings on Nigeria’s independence day.

Persecondnews observed the heavy presence of security operatives both inside and outside the Eagle Square.

The robust security deployment comes after protest organizers demanded the use of the facility for the protest.

Security personnel had also resisted attempts to use the facility during the protest that took place between August 1 and 10.
