The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has suspended two senior officers at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos following allegations surrounding Mr. Idris Okuneye’s (Bobrisky) imprisonment.
The suspension follows allegations from Mr. Martins Otse (Very DarkMan) that Bobrisky served his six-month sentence for naira abuse in a private apartment, arranged by his godfather and the Nigerian Correctional Service’s Controller General.
The board’s secretary, CGC Ja’afaru Ahmed, signed a memo on Thursday that suspended Michael Anugwa, the Deputy Controller of Corrections In-Charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kiri-kiri, Lagos State, and Sikiru Adekunle, the Deputy Controller of Corrections In-Charge of MSCC Kirikiri, Lagos.
It reads: “Following the viral video trending on social media on alleged infractions by Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service relating to Mr. Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has suspended forthwith the following Senior Officers of the Service.
“Michael Anugwa, DCC, In-Charge of MSCC, Kiri-kiri, Lagos State; and Sikiru Adekunle, DCC, In-Charge of MSCC, Kiri-kiri, Lagos State.”
The memo states that an officer at the MSCC in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, ASC II Ogbule Obinna, faced suspension for accompanying an inmate out of the facility.
Another senior officer of the service serving at the Kuje MSCC, DCC Iloafonsi Ikechukwu, was equally suspended for allegedly receiving money on behalf of an inmate.
“In another related development, the Board has equally suspended another Senior Officer of the Service, DCC Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections, In-Charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje-Abuja, for allegedly receiving monies on behalf of an inmate,” the memo added.
Ahmed, however, said their suspension was to allow proper investigation into the allegations against them.
He said: “The suspension of these officers is to allow for further investigation on the various allegations while assuring that the outcome would be made public when concluded.”
