Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji and his wife, Mo Bimpe, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Ogun Gov. Dapo Abiodun, ahead of the premiere of their highly anticipated historical movie, Lisabi.

Abiodun took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his pleasure in hosting the talented actor and his wife.

He commended Lateef for his dedication to promoting Ogun State’s cultural heritage through the movie Lisabi, which celebrates the legacy of a legendary Egbaland warrior.

“We were honoured to host actor and filmmaker @TheDimejiLateef, alongside his wife, @Mobimpeoyebade, as he prepares for the premiere of his historical movie Lisabi in Ogun State,” the governor wrote.

The governor further emphasized the significance of the film, noting that it not only highlights an important figure in the state’s history but also promotes Ogun State’s rich cultural heritage to a broader audience.

“The film celebrates the legacy of Lisabi, a legendary Egbaland warrior. We extend our full support and wish him continued success as a proud ambassador of Ogun State,” Abiodun said in his post.

Adedimeji, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he and his wife received from the governor.

He thanked Governor Abiodun for consistently recognizing and supporting the exceptional talents that hail from Ogun State.

He acknowledged the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment and innovation, which he believes is evident in the support shown for the Lisabi project.

“I am deeply humbled to have been warmly received by the number one citizen of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun,” Lateef said.

As the premiere of Lisabi approached, the actor expressed how much the state government’s support means to him.

“My wife @mo_bimpe and I felt truly welcome, and it’s so great to be home. We are thrilled to see Lisabi receiving such strong acceptance and support from the state government,” Lateef added.

Abiodun’s support for the film is a reflection of his broader vision for the state, which includes fostering youth-led initiatives and harnessing local talent.

Lateef noted the importance of this vision, especially in a state rich with cultural history and creative potential.

“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency for consistently recognizing exceptional talents in Ogun State,” he said.

Lateef also highlighted the governor’s efforts in empowering the youth through various state-sponsored initiatives, which aim to encourage innovation and creativity in Ogun.

He acknowledged that such support is key to nurturing future leaders and artists, much like the Lisabi project.

As the couple gears up for the premiere of Lisabi and its eventual release on Netflix, Lateef expressed his excitement for the film to be viewed by both the governor and the people of Ogun State.

“We can’t wait for His Excellency, his whole cabinet, and the entire people of our great state of Ogun to watch our movie.”
